My name is Courtney Jenner. I work as an Environmental/Health/Safety Specialist for an oil and gas company in the Bakken oilfield in northwest North Dakota, where I have worked nearly 13 years. In addition to my Health and Safety career, I am also heavily involved in local conservation-based outdoor organizations where I serve as a voluntary editor for a quarterly publication as well as write freelance articles for outdoor magazines. I am a graduate of the University of Wyoming with a bachelor’s degree in journalism. I am proud to say I can also put my degree to use within the health and safety field writing company procedures and standards, as I have recently revised and rewritten my company’s Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Hearing Conservation, and Respiratory Protection Program Standards for North Dakota. I am nearing the completion of a Technical Writing course through Oregon State University where I will soon earn a Certificate in Technical Writing. Once completed, I will be continuing my education further and working toward earning my M.B.A. through the University of Wyoming to continue to enhance my writing career.

My mission as a freelance technical writer is to utilize my journalism and technical writing background and experience and apply it where needed in the health and safety world as well as the conservation and outdoor world, my two most passionate areas. Thanks to this background, I can offer my knowledge in several areas including formatting documents, writing SOPs and developing aids such as flow charts, and determining if web design is accessible and user-friendly to a wide array of viewers and clients. My aim is to keep learning and keep writing, for my employer and professional career and myself in my future endeavors.
